United States is North KoreaSo this ex pro basketball player I've never heard of goes to North Korea to visit their dear leader as a publicity stunt orchestrated by some obscure media outlet. Apparently successful, because mainstream media is stupid enough to fall for it, since I saw it on TV over dinner. Anderson Cooper is all like outraged and shit. "How can you meet with a murderer?" Death camps, human rights abuses, etc.Well, no doubt North Korea is a humongous shit hole, but guess what? It operates on the same basic principles as the United States. Anderson mentioned a few points, and the parallels are just too obvious to miss to anyone with half a brain. But alas, they didn't have any common decency to invite somebody to troll away their "we are the good guys" and "they are the bad guys" message. Obviously, the US is way better than North Korea, but we are talking about principle, and in that respect they are no different at all.North Korea has concentration camps where enemies of the people are he
The New Street Photographer's ManifestoFebruary 7, 2013/by $techgnoticStreet photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called it the “decisive moment”— the captured instant when all the photograph’s elements come together to tell a story in a way a text narrative of thousands of words could never begin to. It is what hooks people, both practitioners and advocate-devotees, on the art form. It is uniquely completely immersive in life— step out into the streets— in which the moment of artistic epiphany can never be guessed at until it suddenly happens. When it is properly mastered, it is as pure as the dawn of each new day, as true as the living organism of a teeming street scene catching a breath as one. It's no easy task to pull a book together for publication and "The New Street Pho
Begemott, A Gallery of Narrative DreamsJanuary 30, 2013by $techgnoticOn Sundays by *begemottBegemott:A Gallery of Narrative DreamsA magic of effective art can be a drawing that appears to be a movie still, clipped from a film narrative, evoking a powerful sense of storytelling— and the viewer wants to know the rest of the story. This phenomenon has recently manifested itself on deviantART— and in a big way— once again. The Rock - Dwayne Johnson Paintingby *frankwyte81Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will produce a movie based on a drawing (“sweet Halloween dreams”) by deviantART digital artist *begemott. A Message From Your Feline Overlords
Fatties and SkinniesI am obviously extremely thin, and I get a LOT of commentary about that, both positive and negative. So, here's what I have to say...First of all, I don't care if you are skinny, fat, or in-between. As long as you are HEALTHY and LOVE YOURSELF, you can be attractive at any size. If you are underweight because you starve yourself, or if you are overweight because you eat crap and don't exercise, I find that very unattractive.I am NATURALLY this thin. I eat raw food, do yoga, live a physically active life, and make an effort to eat extra calories in order to maintain a healthy weight. To all the skinny girls out there, love who you are. I am 5'9" and barely 100 lbs. My body mass index is EXTREMELY low. Most people would pretty much die if they had my BMI. This is just the way I am, and it does not make you inadequate if you're not just as thin. I am not "thinspiration", and I am not "pro-ana". If you are looking at my pictures to motivate yourself to starve, please get help!To all the
Sherlock Holmes: The Ever Evolving IconWhat is it about a fictional character first introduced to the public in Great Britain in 1887 that has kept him being reincarnated, with generationally-correct upgrades, over and over again in film and on television? Who is this literary hero whose portrayal over the past century by such past masters as Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett to today’s vanguard talents Robert Downey, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch has inspired such a continuing outpouring of fan appreciation?
